A: Yes. Existing buildings can apply for Net Zero Energy Verified status if they have 24 months of energy data showing 100% energy offset through on-site generation or green energy procurement.

A: Yes, NZE Verified™ is a globally recognized certification. Projects from any country can apply, provided documentation is submitted in English or with certified translation.

* Certification Timelines

A: Standard reviews are typically completed within 4–6 weeks of receiving complete documentation. If additional clarification is needed, the timeline may extend slightly.

A: Yes. We offer an Expedited Review option for an additional $500, with certification typically completed within 10 business days.

A: Digital certificates are issued immediately upon approval. Physical plaques (optional) are shipped within 2–3 weeks of approval and payment.

* What Counts as “Net Zero”?

A: building is considered Net Zero Energy when it produces or procures as much renewable energy as it consumes annually. This can be through on-site solar, wind, or via green energy credits like RECs or PPAs.

A: No, they must achieve net-zero performance over a 12-month period, meaning total annual renewable energy equals or exceeds total energy consumption.

A: Yes — projects can achieve Net Zero Certified status based on design intent, provided they meet DOE Zero Energy Ready Home standards and include solar systems sized to offset 100% of modeled energy use.
